Applying to Agencies

Hello, my name is Tori Lue and I am a voice actor. My Voice Over teacher told me that the way for me to get into the industry is through cold calls with agencies. Most agencies will let you email your demos and reels to them however, there are some who do not allow it. They let you know on their website or when you call that you need to be referred to the agency from another agency or a casting director. They also tell you that you if you send your demos to their email that they will be automatically deleted. That’s too bad but it is definitely the truth.

This year alone (It is Feb 5th, 2023, I have applied to over 100 agencies and still waiting on a call back from them. Some agencies require you to come in and audition while others will get you on the roster right away. The first agency I called, they wanted to hear my demo right away. I sent it to their email and the rest is history.

Long story short, please send your demos to every agency that you can. Even if you get rejected, they might still keep your demo for up to a year! That is better than nothing. Also, rejection is going to happen.

Here is my list of things you need to have when sending demos to Agencies:

  1. Your professional demo reels *Go to a professional to get this done. Most agencies can tell if it has been professionally done or not.

  2. An acting resume in .docx or .pdf format.

    1. Include everything that you have done in VO

    2. Headshot on Resume

    3. All the websites you are signed up with

    4. Other representation

  3. Link to your website

  4. A nice little blurb about who you are, where you live, how old you are, studio information, and other information about yourself. Don’t forget to add how appreciative you are for their time.

  5. Include your phone number and email address too

I hope this helps!
